A sober living house is not the same as a traditional rehab center where intensive rehab and recovery program is offered and require their residents to follow stricter rules. Persons who stay in sober living facilities are allowed to come and go as they please as long as they follow rules. They can go to work or out to attend other activities as long as they are in by a certain time. People living in sober homes generally have to pay for their own rent and food. They are expected to stay clean and sober, so aside from periodic drug tests, residents are also subjected to a random drug test.

Structured living is essential; rules make recovering addicts feel comfortable and safe. The rules formulated by the facility help recovering addicts towards full recovery as they cover everything from addiction to methods of drug testing to the scheduling of chores in the facility.

Both state and federal laws impose strict requirements on employers and operators engaged in commercial transportation, with respect to alcohol and drug testing. Failure to follow these regulations can result in significant penalties both to employers and to individual operators.
Consider this scenario: You have just spent many weeks inside a rehab or drug treatment center detoxing and recovering. But how will you continue when you get out of the drug treatment center? Every year, hundreds of thousands of Americans work to turn their lives around. Past drug addicts find work, strive to get clean, and look for accountability in recovery groups. However, the struggle to go back to drugs is a difficult one.
When a company tests its employees regularly, it gives additional accountability for employees to stay clean and continue working. You can use workplace drug testing to keep employees accountable and overcome any past drug problems.
This issue is also, partly, a question of semantics, and of how narrowly or widely we define addictions. Many hold that an addiction can be to either a substance or a process: gambling, eating, video game playing, Internet use, sex, work, religion, exercise, or compulsive spending. Lots of people gain weight when they quit smoking. Is that a case of substituting an addiction? I like to joke that, in my observations, the only reliable outcome from a stay at rehab was a nicotine addiction, because many people, in an attempt to cope with the trauma and dislocation of being sent away to rehab, pick up cigarettes.
